Great question! All my work helps in understanding breast cancer better, I do work looking at the molecular level, and at the patient level. We are also looking at ways to better detect cancer early, and we hope that these detection methods will one day be used in patients.

My major work is a drug we designed that we hope will one day be used to treat patients. We know it kills breast (and other) cancers in the lab, and in animal models- which is a really really good start. But lots more work to see if it is suitable for use in people.

So right now (at this moment), my work is not affecting patients in the clinic, but we hope it will be in the near future (lots of testing, over many years before it “could” be used on people- have to be slow and careful so we get it right).
