The idea is to make this into the next generation of bandages. Imagine a bandage that can immediately (or at least really quickly) stop inflammation when it is placed in a wound! Hopefully this means we can get patients out of hospitals faster and reduce their risk of hospital infections.
Great question, by using 3D-printing you can also combine different materials- all with different properties. For instance, you can print a bandage which incorporates honey. Honey has been shown to help wounds as it keeps the area moist and encourages the body to heal itself!
That would be a really cool idea to look at Ciara, if you could incorporate some components of honey into a hydrogel which is then applied to the wound!
