  Radiotherapy has gotten much more precise which is great, and reduces the side effects as its much more targeted to just the cancer (not normal tissue nearby).
  
  There is also a lot of work in making drugs that make the cancer cells more sensitive to the radiotherapy, which means the radiotherapy dose can be lower and have the same effect (reducing the side effects).
