I perform all different kinds of experiments! Usually when you work with animals, the experiments are a lot longer than an experiment you can do in a lab setting. This past spring the goal of my experiment was to determine what normal calf behaviour looked like (so the amount of time they spend lying down, standing, eating, drinking, playing). This upcoming spring, my experiment is going to involve visiting dairy farms across Ireland and assessing the welfare of the cows and calves. This will involve looking at the cows and calves themselves to see how healthy they are, taking blood samples, taking measurements of the cow and calf sheds, and also asking the farmer questions.
