I was always really interested in maths in school and I loved problem solving. When I went to college I studied financial maths and although I realised I didn’t really like the finance side of things, I really enjoyed things like statistics and data analytics. I just wanted to find a different area of research to apply these things to. That’s what led me to do my masters in bioinformatics. It allowed to apply the skills I had in data analytics to biological datasets which were far more interesting to me!
