I was always good at biology and started out wanting to be a vet. I didn’t get the points I needed to be a vet so I chose to study science and realized I really enjoyed it so stayed and made a career in research!
I was always very curious of my environment and wanted to understand better natural phenomenon. Science is the perfect tool for that, you have a logical explanation of how things work more or less precisely depending on the progress in that field.
There were a lot of little things that led to it.
I watched a lot of national geographic, animal planet and discovery channel.
I won a science toy (magnifier eyepiece) in a Kinder egg chocolate that made me use to study all the bugs around the house. Curious much!
As I kept learning, I met more science enthusiasts like me and that just kept me going.
My curiosity. I always felt lifted when I learnt or understood something.
I learnt so much during the 12 months in the lab during my master’s thesis that I had the feeling I learnt more than in the 4 years of University before. I guess that made me addicted to science.
My favourite subjects in school were biology and home economics. I went to a career guidance counsellor because I didn’t know what I wanted to study in college. She told me it would be best to study something I would enjoy learning about. I told her my favourite subjects in school and she told me to look at a food science course. I saw a nutrition and health science course which I ended up doing in college.
