Question: When you found out about your work, like the topic, maybe in school, did you just know you wanted to become a scientist and know more and try have a career involving it?

  I was always interested about geology even if I didn’t know that it was a topic of research. I just wanted to have a work related with nature. Even if I quit my actual job, I will try to go for a nature related job, I’m not really attached to a particular career.

  I liked physics in school, and knew I wanted to study it and do something in this area, but back then I did not necessarily think of becoming a scientist. I did not know anyone working as a scientist, so I did not have an good idea of what it involves.

  I didn’t know anything about research in science when in school.
  I opted for other professions – like being a doctor/engineer.
  I moved toward science later on as it allowed to me to study some topics in optics I was more interested in. I liked it enough to want to make a career out of it.

  I was really interested in my biology class in school but I didn’t know then that I would become a scientist.

  In secondary school, I wasnt that great at chemistry funnily enough although I loved biology. It was only when I got to college I realised I loved chemistry. I chose science primarily because it could open so many other doors if I later realised I didnt like it- luckily I loved it!
