Yep, mostly due to clumsiness and dropping glass.
The most recent injury was from dropping a bottle, watching it smash all over the floor, and when cleaning it up, I decided to unscrew the lid from teh broken neck of the bottle and split my finger open. I might not be smart enough to be a scientist…
No, I have never experienced any injury while working in the lab. I believe if you follow the good practices of working in a lab like wearing lab coats, gloves , etc. the chances are low that you will hurt yourself with anything. Once I have spilled few drops of concentrated H2SO4 on my new lab coat and till the time I left lab it was just a brown stain on the lab coat. After washing and drying there were so many tiny holes in my lab coat. So, the lab coat saved me and my clothes 🙂
