• Question: how close would you be able to get to the sun before you burn up?

      Hi Chalice242,
      Would you like to travel to Sun? Let’s go. Don’t worry, we will be able to go very close to Sun and still come back alive. Sun is 93 million miles away from Earth. Its surface temperature is about 9940 F, though surface is the coolest part of Sun. If we travel by space shuttle (obviously we will do so!!!) we can reach 1.3 million miles from Sun. Only 1.4% of total distance will not able to cover as the cover of our space shuttle, which is reinforced with Carbon Carbon heat shield will start melting very fast at that distance. The temperate at that point will be 4700 F. We will have to come back from this point, if we want to survive.
