I don’t have my own science lab, I share a space in a few labs. I have my own two desks in the marine ecology lab, which also has the place for all of my equipment like sieves, dissection equipment and identification books. I have another desk in a lab with a high power microscope and I share space in our mass spectrometer facility.
When I was younger my parents got me a small ‘do-it-yourself’ science lab for Christmas, I still have it, but many chemicals are gone now 🙂
Right now I share a big lab with about 8 other scientists (we have a lot of students that visit from other countries to the number can change). I also use a special lab for when I’m working with dangerous materials (like poo, which we have to assume has dangerous disease in it). There are a couple of ther labs in the building I get access to because they have equipment I need, for concentrating samples, or chromatography, or spectrometry.
Once I’ve finished my PhD hopefully I can go on to a postdoc and from there maybe get my own lab. 🙂
