Oh yes, I like travelling. When I was 9 or 10 my parents brought us to France on holiday. When my sister moved to London to go to college, I used to visit her and visit a couple of nearby parts of England. I’ve since visited friends in France and Germany, and I spent a day in Switzerland (It was really expensive so I didn’t stick around to find a hotel to stay in!) I’ve got friends in Scotland too, which is a great place to visit, so full of mountains and, Scottish people. Scottish people are awesome. since starting my PhD I went to Cambridge in England for a week long training course, and there’s another training course early next month I’m trying to get to in Milton Keynes, also England.
Yes lots! France, Austria, Holland, Italy… India, South Africa, Mozambique…. Canada and America! I’ve lived in Scotland, England and South Africa. The best place was Mozambique- I got swim with whale sharks!!
Some parts of Africa are about the same temperature as Ireland! 🙂
But there are two main reasons most of Africa is hotter.
The first is that Africa is closer to the equator than Ireland. The earth rotates at a slant, and places near the north and south get more or less sunlight depending on the time of year. Also, due to the slant there’s more atmosphere for sunlight to get through before it can warm the earth. Near the equator, the days and nights are fairly even and there’s less atmosphere to get through, so the weather is warmer for longer.
The other reason that that Africa is a massive continent, I mean REALLY huge, so the countries that aren’t near the coast don’t have an ocean to keep them cool or supply them with much rain, which is great at cooling down the land. With less rain and water to cool them, these countries end up hotter. Some of them can become deserts.
