Hello! What solar scientists usually try and do is make forecasts about the weather in space (almost the same as the weather forecast you see on the TV). If we know a solar storm is arriving soon, we can warn the engineers and scientists that work on electricity systems. They can then put in place special electronics and change their system so that there is no effect from the solar storm. They do the opposite to what you might think. Instead of turning off everything, they turn the whole system on! The more of the electricity system that is turned on, the more electricity it can handle.
