      Hi Paul and James,

that’s because running burns energy in form of calories. – When we eat we take up calories, which either go to keep up our body processes (breathing, walking, etc.), or they get stored in body fat.
Running burns energy (more energy than just sitting clearly), which burns more calories, which can result in weight loss!

Your cells need energy to keep living. You get the energy from food. Eat too much food, and you’ll have more energy than your cells can use, so your body will store it as fat.

By running, you’re making a lot of your cells work harder. The muscles in your legs need more oxygen, so your heart beats faster, and you have to breathe more so your lungs get a workout too. They also need more energy from the food you eat. If you run enough, you’ll burn through the energy reserves from the food you last ate, and your body will start turning the fat you’ve put on into the energy it needs.

So running reduces the amount of fat in your body by turning it into the energy your body needs, and that’s how you lose weight!
