As far as I remember, I needed 450-480 points to get into my first choice, which was marine science. I think I got 485 points, so that worked out well 🙂
The points for science courses are changing every year though, depending on how whether the univiersities and institutes can teach a given course (lecturers and professors move jobs sometimes, and you can’t teach, say, genetics, if you don’t have someone who knows about it!)
Let’s see, I finished the leaving in 1999, so I would have bee 17 years old then.
The points weren’t hugely difficult to get, but I paid close attention in class and worked hard on homework, so I was pretty well prepared for the exams, I think.
