The first device I ever built was back in my first year of secondary school. There was a subject called “Technology” in my school and I went for it because it was more fun than technical drawing. It was a little device that you put in beside a potted plant, and it would tell you when the plant was running out of water. It was a very simple electronic circuit attached to two wires that went in the soil, and it had a switch that only turned on a light if there was no water to bridge the gap between the wires.

I’ve built a few computers, too. I love computers, but they’re very expensive, especially if you buy one ready made. You can save a few hundred euros if you order the parts and put it together yourself. It sounds hard, but it’s actually really easy these days!

The last device I built was my home computer. I was able to save enough money building it myself that I just spent it on better graphics and storage space. It’s a bit of a monster. I’m proud of it. 🙂
