I am not looking at penguins because I mostly study marine life around Great Britain and Ireland.
My best friend Jen works on penguins though – Chinstrap penguins in Antarctica!
She is collecting their blood to do DNA analysis to understand how penguin groups are doing, asking if they breed between groups or if single penguin groups are isolated from one another.
I have seen penguins once in Australia near Melbourne – little penguins: they are the smallest species of penguin, growing to an average of 33 cm (13 in)! Cute.
