  the predecessor of Charcaradon megaladon was Carcharocles chubutensis. There are very few fossils of this species preserved, because their skeleton is cartilage rather than bone, which fossilises better. What we have are mostly teeth and vertebrae, but scientists think they were about 12 to 13 meters long.
