      I don’t think it started in any one place. People everywhere have always been trying to work out why or how something happens.

      I suppose an argument could be made for mathematics starting in the Middle East. Well, everyone had ways of counting at the time, but some of the old Muslim countries started to really put some thought into the different ways of counting, and other things that could be done with numbers. They invented and developed a lot of the mathematics in common use today. What we know as science (make hypothesis, try to prove it wrong) today didn’t really come together until pretty recently, actually.
