  Hello Super Sophie! Those pictures of the Sun come from telescopes and observatories in space. They get downloaded to Earth all the time, and you can actually see what the Sun is doing right now if you go to http://www.solarmonitor.org. It shows you what the sun looks like if you had X-ray eyes 🙂
