Question: why do we have different seasons?

Because the earth goes around the sun within one year. During that year the distance of the earth to sun changes, but also the angle of earth to the sun. This means that the Earth is always pointing to one side as it goes around the Sun, which causes winter in our northern hemisphere when its pointed away from the sun, but summer in southern hemisphere! That changes half a year later!
