• Question: why do we need to eat food ? ;]

      Just like a car needs petrol, we need food to go!

      Everything we do needs energy and we get this energy from food. When you walk, dance, grow, talk, think, heal from a wound, it all takes energy which needs topping up in the form of a tasty meal 🙂

      Even when you think you are doing nothing, lots of little reactions are going on inside you that also need energy. Keeping the right temperature and digesting food for example.

      Different food do different things for our bodies, which is why a healthy balanced diet is very important 🙂

      food like beans, nuts, peas and meats are full of protein. This is important because most of our body is made of protein such as our hair, nails and muscle. Our hair and nails are constantly growing, so we need lots of these foods!

      Carbohydrates are full of energy and vitamins so are great for us! These include rice, pasta, bread and vegetables

      Food that contain healthy fats also do good things to our body such as make healthy cells, brains and skin.

      Calcium that is found in dairy and green vegetables gives us strong bones and teeth.
