  That’s actually a really long time! I guess we want to find out more about Mars – like what is it like up there, is there life and can we maybe some day have a little colony of people living there! – If we can inhabit Mars, then maybe we can also inhabit other planets – it would be like an experiment to see if it works.
  Going to Mars will also help us to develop the technology to travel in space for long time periods – which we need if we want to escape from the planet sometime in the far far future!
