      Well, it does protect the skin, although some times it is not as effective as they say.

      So, suncream or sunscreen protects us from the ultraviolet light that we don’t see, but that is dangerous to our cells. Sunscreen creates a very thin creamy layer on our skin that does not allow for the ultraviolet light to reach our body. On the suncream bottle a number indicates how much of the ultraviolet light the sunscreen does not allow – the sun protection factor. So, for example, a sunscreen with a factor of 15 protect against about 93% of the ultraviolet rays, and one with a factor of 30 protects against 97% of the rays, according to the Mayo Clinic. However, it is not possible to block 100% of the ultraviolet light.
