  The first things I translated were abstracts of scientific papers from Portuguese into English. Some friends needed transaltion so I did it for them. I also translated scientific papers and presentations from English into Portuguese. But what I did a lot was to translate signs and menu into English because my city in Brazil is very touristic and they always asked for translations =)
