I love the history of clinical trials. It is fasciniting how we got to where we are today. Some of it is tragic but it is nice to see that we are now operating in an ethical and safe environment for patients and the public. James Linde conducted the first randomised clinical trial in 1747. That’s an interesting story. Google the Tuskegee Syphilis study. that is tragic, and the Nazi medical experiments. That is also very tragic and sad. But we should always look at history to see where we came from and where we are going. It guides our understanding and our ethical principles.
