In terms of studies, my degree was 4 years and my PhD will be an additional 4 years, but most people do not choose to pursue a PhD as it is not needed to work as a scientist. Also, I really believe that science is all around us and that in being curious and interested in phenomena we observe and how things work, we are ‘doing’ science regardless of the qualifications we hold or our age.
