I did 4 years undergraduate education, then 4 years postgraduate. Then I was a postdoctoral researcher and I was a teacher for three years in secondary school! I’m in my current role as lecturer for 14 years.

4 years undergraduate, I started my PhD last year and expect that to take 4 years, all going well, so 8 in total. But bear in mind that the PhD is optional and not a requirement at all for most jobs in science.
