Philosophy comes from the greek word, philosophia, which means love of wisdom. That is why a person who gets a PhD is considered wise! It stands for doctor of philosophy or Philosophia doctor

In some countries, like Italy for example, Philosophy is taught in secondary schools. I think that it would be nice to have that subject option in Ireland too, to study the art of asking questions (to put it in simplest terms)
