Thanks Ciano2019! It’s early days for my career as I am just starting out in my PhD… but probably the coolest thing that has been discovered on the project in just how many bacteria seem to be able to interrupt the conversations of other bacteria and, crucially, stop them from forming biofilms. We have a lot of work ahead to figure out what kind of substance they are making, how to purify it, and how to apply it as a new drug, but it has the potential to help us deal with problematic bacteria that makes biofilms, cause infections and are not killed by conventional antibiotics.
