• Question: Why do you like studying bacteria and why?

      Thanks for your question Einsteinfc! I think that bacteria get a bad rap tbh, either they’re not really talked about or people just focus on ‘bad bacteria’. So I was really inspired to learn about them in college, how they were the first living things on earth, how we can find them pretty much anywhere on Earth, surviving happily in the harshest conditions such as deep sea vents and hotsprings, even in the Antarctic. And the concept of microbiomes are fascinating to me too, that different environments like the human gut, human skin, foods, buildings, can host specific communities of different microorganisms living together in an ecosystem. We don’t know nearly enough about these but are learning more all the time. Let me know if you have any more specific questions 🙂
