Only certain jellyfish are dangerous enough to kill a person, about 8 or 9 species, but all are venomous. The box jellyfish is one of the most dangerous on the planet, it is found in Australia by the great barrier reef. It is so venomous it can kill within two minutes if enough tentacle contact.
All jellyfish are venomous but only certain species have venom which are toxic enough to kill a person and these jellyfish are called box jellyfish. They can only be found in tropical areas of the Pacific Ocean, for example in Australia and the Philippines. It is very rare for someone to die within two minutes of a box jellyfish sting but it has happened before. Usually it is a long and painful experience which can last for several hours. The people that died within two minutes of being stung went into cardiac arrest. We do not have box jellyfish in Ireland though so no need to worry.

That is very cool but also a bit intimidating that if say you went swimming in Australia and that was in the sea with you!
