Salt in the ocean comes from rocks on land. Rivers carry dissolved salts to the ocean. Water evaporates from the oceans to fall again as rain and to feed the rivers, but the salts remain in the ocean. so it cyces with the river water being fresh water and carries salts into the ocean and starts over again
The Dead Sea is a good example of this effect, it’s actually a lake but it’s extremely salty because no rivers flow out of it. This means that all the salt that flows in off the land have nowhere to go! The Dead Sea is 10 times saltier than normal sea water đŸ™‚
