Good question. It depends on the person. I really enjoyed science in school. I particularly liked biology. So I studied hard in my leaving cert to understand more about science and the world around me. Thankfully I got the points I needed to get into a science course in college (this did require a lot of hard work but was easier because I like science). I think it’s very difficult to study a subject if you don’t like it. Even within science, I found physics very difficult because it didn’t really interest me. So becoming scientist can be difficult and a lot of work but if you’re interested in science it will be easier. It is also very much worth it because you get to learn about and study amazing and interesting things about how the world works. And hopefully by studying science you will be able to make the world a better place, whether that means finding a cure for ebola, or making sure our water supply doesn’t become polluted, or even learning about an endangered species so you can try to save it from extinction.
