What an interesting question! The dictionary defines a foot as “the part of the leg on which a human or animal stands on and moves”. As you know, humans have feet with nails. For land mammals, their feet are called paws and usually have claws or nails. Some molluscs like limpets and periwinkles also have a body part called a ‘foot’. This single body part is the slimy soft part they slither around on.
