• Question: why did you chose to study plant and animals?

      When I was younger I loved my pets. I had dogs, cats, hamsters, fish, chickens, even a donkey! We also grew up beside a farm that had cows and sheep. I used to always wish that the animals could talk to me. Sounds a bit crazy, I know! Have you ever seen the husky dog on youtube that can bark/howl “I love you”? Well that would’ve been my dream come true! Sadly, this never happened. So I decided I was going to find out everything I could about animals so I that I could understand them better. I wanted to find out things like do fish have brains, which animals are closely related and can we understand animals through their behaviour. I also chose to study botany (plants) as the plant and animal world are so closely linked. I’d heard that plants can communicate signals to other plants when they are bitten by an insect. This made me think of plants as more than bushy green things, and more as an important part of the environment.
      I really enjoyed studying these subjects, all my classes were interesting and we got to dissect some animals too.

      I have always loved plants and animals, but particularly birds. There are so many different types, all different colours, shapes and sizes, with lots of different behaviours, found all over the world, in lots of different habitats – they’re fascinating! I really enjoy learning more about them and like it even more if I can do research on them to learn new things. By studying animal we can learn a lot about ourselves, how life evolved and what it needs to survive.
