When I was in school I asked my teachers how do I become a zoo keeper. They told me to study zoology in college, so I did. In this zoology course I took loads of classes like animal behaviour, interaction of animals and the environment and wildlife conservation. I had also learned that it is very difficult to get a job in the zoo as they only employ new people every few years. It was then I realised I didnt want to just feed and clean animals, I wanted to help them. I wanted to help animals in the wild, not just the ones in the zoo. So by studying animals in the wild, how they interact with each other, with humans and with things like climate change and pollutants, we learn more about them and its easier for us to protect them. I felt that I could make more of an impact if I discovered new things about animals than if I worked in a zoo and looked after three elephants for the rest of my life.
