I’m not very familiar with dinosaurs, but I do know that they evolved from other reptiles during the triassic period which was over 230 million years ago! They hatch from eggs like reptile species such as snakes do today!

Without a time machine we can never know for sure! However that’s why geologists use the rocks in which they are buried as their time machine! đŸ™‚ I would never say that there was a ‘first official dinosaur’ that was born, but it’s like Kathryn was saying, they evolve after generations of genetic mutation, just like humans evolved from apes, it takes millions of years.

The first species of dinosaurs evolved in the Triassic period, around 230 million years ago, following from the greatest extinction ever seen on Earth. You think the one which wiped out the dinosaurs was bad…this was a whole other level, wiping out 95% of all life. From the species which survived, dinosaurs evolved.

However some researchers suggest that the first species classified as a dinosaur was the size of a labrador, Nyasasaurus which roamed about 243 million years ago. We may never know what the first dinosaur is as the fossil record will be never be complete, but that’s a good candidate!

Don’t think I can add to those great answers, and my knowledge of dinosaurs doesn’t extend beyond Jurassic Park đŸ™‚ I would love to see one of those Labrador sized dinosaurs Chris mentioned!
