No- definitely not. But I have kept all of my notes and books over the years so I can go back and look up information quickly!

I remember that pain of trying to remember every definition and equation, such a nightmare as I didn’t get that massive book of tables and formulas. For me is was jus repetition, reciting them, quizzing myself, but it helps a lot if you can understand what you are trying to remember.

Different things work for different people- try drawing diagrams to understand things, I was a big fan of colourful mind maps. Try and make it fun- have quizzes with your friends or parents to remember formulas and definitions. Practice mathsy questions by writing them out with as many steps as possible.

I used to try to associate words with funny things in my head. Say for example, there is a yeast species called Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It’s pronounced like sack-ar-oh-my-sees sarah-vis-E-A. So I used to visualise a sack in a car with some mice, and then my niece (who is called Sarah) with a pair of glasses (because visiae sounds like vision). And somehow making mental images like that was always able to help me remember the order or words, or how to spell things. That probably sounds a bit insane but I’ve been doing it for so long I don’t even notice anymore!!
