      Your brain has lots and lots of different types of cells, so it depends on which ones you mean. There’s no easy answers in neuroscience!

    Neurons: These cells help transmit signals all over the body including the brain.
    Glial cells (Astrocytes, microglia, and oligodendrocytes): these support the neural network, but there are many types of glial cells and all the functions are not yet known. They may be able to help repair tissues in the brain- they definitely outnumber the neurons in the central nervous system.
