Hi Bronagh, the reason for this is that asthma is activated mainly by environmental factors- dust, smoking, allergies. People can get asthma quite young- my brother was diagnosed when he was around 7. Even if you get asthma later on, the root of it will still come from how your lungs developed in the womb before you were born.
Not always, you can get asthma anytime. Exposure to various irritants and substances that trigger allergies can trigger signs and symptoms of asthma, and it can vary from person to person, whether its dust, pollen etc!
