I’m not entirely sure I should – there are a lot of great scientists taking part in this, and just to be included with them is a great win for me! If I did win the prize, I would like to think it is because students like your good self were enthralled by my own unique way of explaining the science in my life, how I was shaped by it and how you can be too. I would then use the prize to keep explaining science (for example the technology we build in the ADAPT Centre) and hopefully it would inspire students to learn more about it.. and who knows, become scientists themselves one day đŸ™‚

If I win we will build a cool kelp display at the Atlantaquarium in Galway. But if I don’t, we’ll still try and raise money to do so.

Hmm, I suppose I think I should win so that schools can take part in star-gazing and astronomy workshops using the prize money đŸ™‚

I’ve never really thought about this competition as I’m in it to win it. I’ve seen this as a chance for you to learn something about what all of us do, so taking part is the key aspect for me and answering all of your great questions and knowing that you got as much out of this experience as you want to. If I win in the process, great! I won’t argue :D. The most important thing for me though is getting my passion for science through to you, as you are the scientists of the future!
