Before making such decisions whether something is good or bad, we must know the science behind GM food. GM stands for genetically modified foods where a piece of gene is inserted in plants which makes them either resistant to biotic/abiotic stress or enable them produce healthier food, which naturally doesn’t happen.
Once such example is Golden rice which is a genetically engineered &, biofortified crop, in order to produce beta carotene, which is not normally produced in rice. Beta carotene is converted into Vitamin A when metabolized by the human body. This Vitamin A is required for healthier skin, immune systems, and vision in human beings. In developing countries where vitamin A deficiency could lead to a million deaths annually, most of them children, plus an additional 500,000 cases of blindness and its hard to get a balanced diet, therefore daily supply of Golden Rice could bring the gift of life and sight.
Probably, GM is not the technology we need in Europe currently, but it is something the can accelerate breeding in future with help of conventional; and more advanced breeding techniques.
When you’re in US and you eat outside, you probably are consuming a GM food in some way shape or form.

There is a debate about that. Scientists are testing and it’s only then we can know the facts.
