Lemons and limes have even higher amounts of concentrated citric acid than other sweeter citrus fruits, such as oranges and grapefruits. When you bite into a lemon, the citric acid activates taste buds along the sides and center of your tongue. These taste buds let your brain know when something is sour.

They have higher levels of acid, that give the sour taste. Do you like lemons and limes?
