I am not sure, it is not something I know much about. I think Ramadan starts on a new moon. Some wait to see the moon in the sky, whereas some go by the full moon on a calendar.

It takes 28 days for the moon to orbit the earth, or for one cycle, then the moon phases start again, so people can tell the days apart by the phases of the moon. Do you know anything more about how people use the moon?
