      I am developing a DNA sensor that can identify different sickness in living organisms.

      I study the microbes in food. I try to understand if they could be good for us, or cause us harm. I try to understand if they are making food taste better, or worse. Then I try to use the information I gain to make food and food processing safer and better for the customer.

      I am a plant scientist at Teagasc Crop Science department and my role is ensure plant health for sustainable crop production by developing diseases resistant crop varieties. I perform experimentation to test different crop varieties for disease resistance, test microbes to support plant health (Plant growth promotion), and public outreach activities. In my role, I do travel to disseminate the results from my work to both scientific and non-scientific communities.

      I am studying the effect that natural plant extracts have on dairy cow methane emissions.

      I study how to make microbes in the soil help plant grow. Mostly, these plants can be eaten by animals which produce meat and milk for us.

      I study the communities of bacteria along the dairy processing line, to try and better understand how they are affecting the milk/cheese in terms of quality and safety.
