I am not sure. This really shows my age, but I never had these when I was in school.
I would say pick something that interests you and you can enjoy doing it. If you have interest in something, it will show in your work. Try to critically analyse your work, and figure out and understand why you got the result you did, even if it was unexpected. Try to have a balanced view, to see both sides of the topic.
I am not familiar with the process, but I would think your teacher may be able to advise you. I am not sure if you have a free choice of topic? If you do, it could be a great opportunity to pick something that you can really enjoy. When I was in school, we never had choices like that and had to stick to the curriculum.
It totally depends upon your interests, so if you tell me more about which area of STEM you are interested in, if its microbiology or plant science, biology, chemistry, I will be able to suggest you a project that you might like to do.
All the very best with your science CBA.
