To get the message out that farming is a good thing and eating healthy is very good for you! I am just wanting to help kids understand the importance of science within everyday life too, for example when eating food.
I am a people’s person and really like involved in public outreach activities such as science week and BTYSTE. I have recently coordinated two days event at Teagasc Oak Park, where more than 100 primary school pupils joined us to get hands on experience on DNA extraction, disease and insect/pest identification, while I and my team mates got to learn why to be a scientist. We were able to generate curiosity and possibly gain interest of some budding researchers to become scientist in future.
Therefore, my goal is clear that I would like to communicate the science but also help facilitate the decision making process where a young budding scientist like you can continue the work that we are doing for a better world and a new generation.
When I was a math and science teacher, my students had a lot of questions like yours but never had the opportunity to have the scientists or the time to ask.
In the future I hope to create a similar event back in Italy.
