Question: what is the membrane in charge of?

Great question Kelly! The cell membrane is a very important part of our cells as it keeps all it’s pieces and fluid inside. It also keeps nasty things outside the cell so that it doesn’t get contaminated. It’s not a solid piece either as it has compounds called proteins and phospholipids that make up most of the cell membrane. Think of the membrane as a big plastic bag with some tiny holes in it. The holes are there to let some things move in and out of the cell and keeps all it’s bits inside and nasty things outside. The phospholipids make the basic bag. The proteins are found around the holes and help move molecules in and out of the cell 🙂
