I do believe that there is another planet in another galaxy somewhere that has living beings on it but there is no reason why they should be in any way like us.
Some people and especially sci-fi authors like the idea of a multiverse where there are lots of parallel universes that only differ in tiny details. I do not know all the theory that made them come to this conclusion but personally I don’t think it exists.
I don’t know. If you think about it like this; if there is another planet out there with exact copies of us living their lives exactly like us, then there must be thousands of planets out there that have almost the same people on them living almost the same lives (like everyone is exactly the same except we all have blue hair or dogs can speak). So, does that seem likely? I guess if we expand our criteria and allow this planet (let’s call it Identi-Earth) to exist or to have existed at any time since the Big Bang. Well maybe. The Universe is essentially infinite so in an “infinite monkeys typing on infinite typewriters” way, maybe Identi-Earth does exist out there somewhere.
Perhaps more interesting (and possibly more likely) is the idea of a planet out there that is an exact copy of Earth except that it and everything on it is made of anti-matter. But if you ever do meet anyone from Anti-Earth don’t shake his hand!
The chances of people evolving, the way we did, is so unbelievably tiny. It’s such a small number I probably wouldn’t be able to write to here!
I’m kind of happy about that, I’d rather see life that looked completely different and crazy!
Of course, since we’re talking about it, there is a teeny tiny chance that yes, in the Universe there’s a Space-Me talking to Space-You about some weird place called “Earth”
I really do not know. I was at a talk the other night and a guy called Joe Roche, who is in the Space Zone of this competition was giving talk on Space. It was amazing some of the things he talked about and has really sparked an interest in me about things that go on in space and about different planets and stars and moons. It really was cool and he also showed us some really awesome pictures.
So maybe you could ask Joe, I’m sure he would have a better answer than I can give you 🙂
