      Yes and no.

There is definitely nanotechnology used in the making of the iPod Nano. All computer chips and circuitry from recent times use nanotechnology, including the iPod Classic and the iPod Mini. The iPod Nano itself is certainly not nano-sized and I would guess the real reason Apple decided to include the word nano in it’s name is to make it sound new and exciting and high-tech, and to emphasise that it is smaller than the iPod Mini. For whatever reason they skipped the iPod Micro.

      Hi Theo,

There is some nanotechnology used in the development of iPods and the Ipod nano. I think the name comes from how small and portable the iPod nano is compared to the first generation of iPods that Apple made. So the name was inspired by the meaning of the nano I would think. Although they are technically not nanosized, just yet 🙂
